Iomega has produced a new small-business storage system.
The StorCenter Pro NAS 150d is a Network Attached Storage server that features one terabyte (TB) of storage capacity, hot swappable hard disk drives and costs $799.
The 1TB model features four hot-swappable SATA II 250GB hard disks; a 2TB version is available that uses 500GB mechanisms (it costs $1,499). You can configure the server using RAID Level 0 (striping) for improved performance, RAID Level 1 (mirroring) for redundancy, or RAID Level 5 (striping plus parity) for maximum security.
The 150d has a Gigabit Ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port for sharing up to four printers on the network. It supports Mac OS X, Windows and Linux operating systems. A five-user licence of EMC Retrospect Express is also included, for network-based backups. Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later is needed.
