Brocade a hit as Dell expands reseller deal
But gets friendly with rivals too.

Dell has expanded its reseller relationship with networking vendor Brocade Communications Systems to better serve customers building large data centres.
"Today Dell expanded its OEM relationship with Brocade, providing a glimpse into the beginnings of a full range of [10Gb Ethernet] offerings to help customers unify and reap the benefits of a standards-based Ethernet fabric," the company said in a brief statement.
Dell did not offer details of the expanded agreement with Brocade. But the computer maker said the two companies aim to offer products that help customers build and operate data centers used to run virtualised applications.

Dell currently sells a broad range of Brocade's products under a partnership that stretches back to 1997. The list of Brocade products offered by Dell includes storage-area network switches, routers, switches and host bus adapters.
Brocade isn't the only vendor that Dell is cozying up to these days. The computer maker also signed a deal to resell Scalent's Virtual Operating Environment software, which lets users manage servers and applications running in a virtualised environment, it said.
