Storage brain drain at HP? Reports of executive departures at HP have led to a view that there might be a lack of capable senior management in HP's storage area - e.g. "Such departures have spurred some questions about a possible brain drain at HP. Hitachi GST tells us that it has a new, redesigned 1.8inch hard disk drive that is tailored to manufacturers' needs - easy to add in and smaller. It has replaced the standard notebook-based connector on its new Travelstar C4K60 series with a ZIF connector, widely implemented in CE (consumer electronics) devices today. With the ZIF connector, the new drive footprint is reduced by 10 percent and enables easier integration through a common connector, which the CE industry has been using successfully for many years.

It allows automatic login to any website (with any browser), application, and even terminal, without the need to type passwords. The digital key protects and stores passwords, and types them automatically. The user simply plugs it into the USB port, enters a PIN, and can access any of their accounts with a single click. There is no need to install any software and it can be used at work, at home, and on the road on any available PC.

Both groups, Blu-ray and HD DVD, have now backed three video compression standards, including VC-1, led by Microsoft, and the MPEG-4 AVS and MPEG-2 standards.
