European accelerators give start-ups free access to marketing email app

Techstars, 500 Startups and Global Accelerator Network sign deal with SendGrid

Article comments

Start-ups operating out of accelerators in Europe were given free access to SendGrid’s marketing email application platform today after a series of new partnerships were signed.

The partnerships, signed with TechStars, 500 Startups and Global Accelerator Network, enable companies enrolled in dozens of European start-up hubs to use SendGrid's cloud-based email delivery and analytics service, which can cost up to $399 (£237) per month. Some of today’s tech titans have been using SendGrid since their inception including Pinterest, Snapchat, Uber, Foursquare, Dwolla and Spotify.

SendGrid claims that its platform, which sends emails on behalf of companies, increases "email deliverability" and provides actionable insights that can help start-ups meet the demands of high-volume emailing. The company also claims that customers using its technology don't have to go through the pain-staking process of building and maintaining their own proprietary email applications.

SendGrid CEO Jim Franklin said: “From Techstars in London to Startup42 in Paris and Startup Wise Guys in Talin, we’re excited to have the opportunity to work with start-ups across European accelerators."

As part of the partnerships, the hundreds of early-stage start-ups that are accepted into participating accelerator programmes each year will automatically gain acceptance into SendGrid’s Accelerate Startup Program, which gives them free early access to SendGrid’s products, service, mentorship and support.

Franklin added: "The maturing European start-up ecosystem is an important market for us and these partnerships will help us support the founders and developer communities building Europe’s next tech giants.”

Jon Bradford, managing director of Techstars London, said: “For the eleven start-ups that have joined the Techstars London cohort from all corners of Europe and the US, access to SendGrid’s application email infrastructure will be invaluable as they build and scale quickly.”

SendGrid was founded in 2009 after graduating from the TechStars programme in Boulder, Colorado.
