Intel turns to London start-up in a bid to push big data tech to European enterprises

Big Data Partnership advises firms on which technology they should use to understand their data

Intel is looking to push its latest big data technologies to European customers through London start-up, Big Data Partnership (BDP), Techworld can reveal.

The US firm will work with BDP to deliver and implement the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop to enterprises across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

BDP co-founder Panil Gandhi told Techworld that BDP is technology agnostic. "We don’t have a particular product or vendor that we exclusively work with," he said. "Instead, we have lots of strategic partnerships with the main vendors in the space.”

The two-year-old firm, which operates out of the Techspace London co-working hub, in Shoreditch –  aims to help companies establish a big data strategy before suggesting the best technologies to execute it and training staff, should they need it. It claims that it is assisting blue chip companies across multiple industries to find scalable and reliable technologies to capture, store and analyse big data that can help to solve problems and identify new revenue streams.

The company said it wants to expand deeper into Europe and double the size of its team to around 50-70 employees over the next year.

Jobi George, director of big data software product & channels for Intel’s datacentre software division, said: “Companies such as Big Data Partnership are well equipped to deploy the Intel Distribution in Europe and add a new layer of support for Apache software integration.”

"As we expand the adoption of the Intel Distribution into new global markets, partnerships with knowledgeable and experienced companies will be strategic to our growth.”

BDP also supplies technology products from: IBM, HortonWorks, Datastax, MapR and Microsoft.
