British tech start-ups embark on trade mission to India

Web Mission 2013 will help accelerate opportunities with potential customers and partners

Article comments

Fifteen of the UK’s fastest growing digital, wireless and mobile software technology companies have been selected to take part in an entrepreneur-led trade mission to India, to accelerate their business in the growing Indian market.

The chosen companies are Ambiental Technical Solutions, Audioboo, Coveritas, Cyceera, Inngot, Omnisoft Services, OmPrompt, Stream Communications, Sub10 Systems, Sunde, Trusted Renewables, Cyan Technology, uMotif, Buffalo Project and Zondle.

The companies were selected by the UKTI, Technology Strategy Board, The Long Run Venture and Co-Sponsorship Agency for their innovative business models, products and services that can provide solutions for the healthcare, education, and energy sectors.

India is currently experiencing rapid social and business change, and the so-called Web Mission 2013 will showcase the opportunities for UK businesses representing these sectors within low income groups and emerging middle classes.

The group will travel to Bangalore followed by New Delhi, between 9 and 16 February 2013.

“For UK technology firms to be part of these emerging opportunities, it is crucial to understand how India absorbs and applies new technology, building on its own strengths and using business models and principles that may be unfamiliar to UK entrepreneurs and investors,” said David Bott, Director of Innovation Programmes at the Technology Strategy Board.

“The goal of this mission is to provide the necessary know-how, connections and inspiration to help improve and accelerate opportunities with potential customers and partners.”

This is the eighth in a series of trade missions organised by the public-private partnership. Each is designed to help successful early stage businesses accelerate their growth potential overseas. The seven previous missions were all to the USA.
