British companies SaaSID and Iceotope have been named among the winners of the inaugural Tech Trailblazers Awards for enterprise information technology start-ups.
SaaSID, whose Cloud Application Manager enables organisations’ secure use of web applications and the implementation of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programmes, won the Cloud Trailblazers category, beating CloudLock and Tiatros – both from the USA.
Ed Macnair, CEO of SaaSID, said: “Our participation in the Tech Trailblazer Awards provided us with a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of our innovation with CIOs worldwide.”

Meanwhile, Iceotope, which also won Start-up Product Of The Year at this year's Techworld Awards for its liquid cooling solution, scooped the prize for Sustainable IT Trailblazer, ahead of Icelandic firm GreenQloud and South Africa's sustainableIT.
Ireland's VentiSys Technology, whose Oudles Vault product protects laptop data and documents using 256-bit encryption, was the only other European winner, claiming the prize for Security Trailblazer.
All the other categories – Big Data, Mobile, Networking, Storage and Virtualisation – were won by US start-ups, apart from the Emerging Markets category, which was won by India's CloudByte.
“Our goal in our first year was to create a truly global award for enterprise tech start-ups with prizes that would actually help them grow their businesses. The Tech Trailblazers has proved itself as the enterprise tech world's independent award dedicated to discovering the hottest new enterprise tech innovations from around the world,” said founder Rose Ross.
“The Tech Trailblazers Awards 2012 has proved that technological innovation is not just for the so-called 'major players:' Exciting new technologies are being developed all over the world by fledgling companies that need only the recognition and resources to succeed.”
All entrants to the Tech Trailblazers Awards receive a “goodie bag” of products and services worth around $3,000, to help them get their businesses off the ground and help with their marketing efforts.
The winners of each category will also receive coaching and mentoring from established enterprise CTOs and venture capitalists, as well as development products and services worth tens of thousands of dollars.
The Tech Trailblazers Awards are run by IT market accelerator Launchpad Europe. Entries for the 2013 awards will open on 4 July.
