Benchmark to protect iPhones is released
Security organisation offers help to guard corporate data.

IT managers are being offered a new security benchmark desired to improve company data protection.
The Center for Internet Security has released CIS Security Configuration Benchmark for Apple iPhone, including 20 recommendations for system settings, Safari settings and iPhone Configuration Utility settings, said a CIS spokeswoman. The benchmark also includes instructions on securely erasing data and creating strong passwords.
Blake Frantz, chief technology officer at CIS, said the iPhone presents "security challenges" for enterprises. Nonetheless, some large companies, such as Kraft and Oracle, have widely adopted the iPhone for business use. Others, such as Bank of America, have held off supporting the iPhone, citing security concerns.
