Nokia N900 mobile phone launch delayed

Maemo powered handset is oversubscribed in UK

Nokia says that massive demand for the Nokia N900 has forced it to delay the release of the Maemo 5 handset.

Users will have to wait a week longer than expected for their Linux-based internet phones.

According to Nokia website Nok Nok: "Working on a strict first-come-first-served basis, anyone who has already pre-ordered the Nokia N900 should receive their device starting from [yesterday]."

The latest internet tablet phone from Nokia, the Nokia N900 sports an ARM Cortex A8 processor and 32MB of RAM, with which it runs the Maemo 5 OS.

Indeed, with a full qwerty hardware keyboard Nokia insists on calling the device a 'mobile computer', although most users will recognise it as a high-end smartphone.

The Nokia N900 is priced at £499 SIM free.
