Daisy steps in to save stricken 2e2 data centre customers

Deal will provide new and expanded data and hosting services

Article comments

Daisy Group has been appointed by Oakley Capital Private Equity to manage the failed 2e2 Data Centre business.

2e2 recently went into administration leaving companies facing their websites being downed and their corporate data being inaccessible.

Oakley has acquired, through a special purpose vehicle, Daisy Data Centre Solutions Limited, the business and assets of the 2e2 data centre business.

Daisy Group said it will work with existing 2e2 data centre employees to provide new and expanded data and hosting services from its data centres in Gateshead and Reading.

Matthew Riley, CEO of Daisy, said, “This appointment provides 2e2 customers with the opportunity to work with a long-term partner with proven expertise in the growing data and hosting market.

“Through additional data centre facilities the group is in a position to significantly expand its data and hosting footprint, providing stability to existing 2e2 customers and offering further expertise and resources to Daisy customers.”

Anthony Miller, an analyst at TechMarketView, said, "Daisy had reportedly been in the frame to acquire some or all of 2e2, but like all the other potential buyers apparently walked away when the extent of the mess became clear."

Miller said, "Oakley acquired the business and assets with terms not being disclosed, but I suspect if money changed hands it would more likely have been from seller to buyer rather than the other way round!"

Miller said that before Oakley came in, the lights for 2e2's beleaguered data centre clients were due to go out today (Friday).
