Citrix grows NetScaler MPX line with mid-range appliances

Citrix Systems has added two new mid-range appliances to its Citrix NetScaler MPX family of application networking systems.

According to the virtualisation, networking and software-as-a-service (SaaS) technologies provider, the new NetScaler MPX 10500 and NetScaler MPX 12500 models blend scalability and performance for enterprise customers, at a price that beats the high cost of competing solutions.

"With the addition of these two new mid-range models, Citrix now delivers the industry's most comprehensive and cost-effective product line--scaling from small, single application virtual appliances to massive, high-end systems designed to power the world's busiest websites," claimed the technology company. "As a result, enterprise customers are no longer forced to choose between performance and functionality when building their Web application delivery infrastructure."

Lowest power consumption in its class

"In addition to high-performance and advanced features, the unique NetScaler MPX architecture drives the lowest power consumption in its class: nearly 50 per cent more efficient than competitive offerings," said company sources.

"Our new mid-range MPX appliances are built to deliver web applications with the performance customers expect from NetScaler, but at a price that is within reach of everyone," said Klaus Oestermann, group vice president and general manager, NetScaler product group at Citrix Systems.

Citrix NetScaler MPX 10500 and MPX 12500 appliances are available now through Citrix Solution Advisors worldwide. Pricing begins at US$42,000. Customers can upgrade from a 10500 to a 12500 with a simple software licence upgrade, the company said.
