Ex-Capita CTO takes up CIO role at ITIL and PRINCE2 joint venture

Daryl Flack has worked on various government contracts

AXELOS, a new joint venture company set up by the Cabinet Office and Capita to commercialise the government's best management practice accreditation services, has appointed Daryl Flack as its CIO.

Flack joins from Capita, where he was most recently CTO of the outsourcer's Integrated Services Division. Other roles at Capita include lead architect and design authority, which, according to his LinkedIn profile, meant he was the "technology owner for the implementation of a large, central government contract". He was also solution manager within Capita IT Services between 2010 and 2012.

Before joining Capita in 2008, Flack was head of IT at video-on-demand specialists On Demand Group. Prior to this, he was technical architect at fashion retailer Monsoon Accessorize, technical architect at law firm SJ Berwin and network administrator at Higgins Construction.

He comes from a military background, having served as a gunner in the Royal Air Force (RAF) for eight years between 1992 and 2000.

The Cabinet Office created AXELOS on 1 July 2013 to deliver and commercialise the government's portfolio of best management practice accreditation and publishing services, including ITL, PRINCE2 and other PPM products.

AXELOS now owns the intellectual property of the whole best management practice portfolio, and will build on the existing products, as well as develop ones in new areas.

"I'm looking forward to helping support and grow the Global Best Practice community through the use of intelligent technology and collaborative solutions," said Flack.

"We will be undertaking a core programme of work during 2014 to deliver the technology foundations to support the community and help extend the portfolio into new and emerging global markets."

Flack joins a senior management team that comprises CEO Peter Hepworth, who joined from gaming company Activision Blizzard, transformation director Chris Barrett, product development director Frances Scarff, chief financial officer (CFO) Abid Ismail and sales and marketing director Kelvyn Lien-Hicks.
