Staff at recruitment tool firm Distill join Yahoo

The Distill interview platform will not be available to customers after March 30

The team at Distill, the developer of a collaborative video interview platform, is joining Yahoo, adding to the number of engineers and other staff from startups that have joined the Internet company.

The staff from Distill will be interestingly working at Yahoo in the area of mobile advertising. "Prior to creating Distill, we were part of the original team behind the creation of Tapjoy, a mobile performance-based advertising platform that drove deep engagement and monetization opportunities for mobile app publishers," the Distill team wrote on the company's website.

The Distill staff said they will be drawing on their expertise from their stint at Tapjoy "to help build out Yahoo's mobile advertising solutions."

The company said it had stopped development of its Distill Schedule and Distill Interview products. Users will be able to schedule interviews through the end of February, and the Distill platform will remain available up to March 30.

Yahoo said Thursday it was hiring seven employees from Distill to work on Yahoo's mobile advertising technologies, all of whom are expected to join the Internet giant in Sunnyvale next week. It did not provide more information on the deal.

Distill's tools helped customers hire staff by focusing on the person-to-person interactions between the company and candidate to better predict on-the-job performance, it said on its website.

Yahoo has been on an acquisition spree and in January entered into an agreement to acquire Incredible Labs, the startup behind mobile personal assistant app Donna, shortly after it said it was acquiring Tomfoolery, a startup whose key product is Anchor, an app offering group chats, file sharing, and email and voice calling for businesses. The Donna app and Anchor are being shut down.

CEO Marissa Mayer said during Yahoo's fourth quarter earnings call that the company would continue to look for opportunities for talent acquisitions.
