Opsview update challenges Tivoli and Openview

Open core V4 product offers scalable and affordable IT monitoring, says Opsview

Article comments

IT monitoring provider Opsview has launched a new version of its monitoring platform, in a bid to take market share from established products, including HP Openview and IBM Tivoli.

Opsview Enterprise version 4.0 (V4) has than 30 major enhancements and combines the updated data visualisation and dashboard technology to offer a visual and scalable platform to monitor physical, virtual and hybrid cloud environments.

Opsview uses an ‘open core’ licensing model, that the company claims allows customers to have ‘enterprise-grade IT monitoring capabilities’ without the traditional high-costs associated with legacy, proprietary solutions.
“We have completely re-engineered the product to provide users with a more consistent and user-friendly experience. Our move to an open core business model means we can leverage the cost and developments of the open-source world while at the same time offer a trusted, professionally supported, enterprise-grade monitoring solution,” said Opsview’s CEO Michael Walton.

Opsview is already being used by a number of enterprise organisations such as Ericsson and Electronic Arts.

Enhancements in V4 include a new web user interface which is designed to pool all of an organisation’s complex monitoring data and present it back in a format that both IT and business users can use.

The release of V4 also sees the company target SMEs with the launch of Opsview Pro, a scaled down version of the Enterprise product for organisations wanting to monitor up to 100 devices. The company’s existing free-to-use community product is also now renamed Opsview Core and features an updated user interface and numerous other improvements.
