Avecto boosts admin management reporting engine

Windows admin rights management outfit Avecto has added a new reporting layer to its Privilege Guard software that can capture detailed data on how employees are interacting with applications.
Version 3.0 can either be used with Avecto’s custom Enterprise Reporting Pack or integrated with McAfee’s industry standard ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), both new capabilities developed to meet customer demand, the company said.
Built using SQL Server Reporting Services, the inhouse Enterprise Reporting Pack serves up detailed reports on applications executed and blocked, as well as offering a view on those executing with elevated admin rights whether ‘on-demand’ or not.

The timeframe can be switched from hours, days, months, with full graphing of activity trends to help with auditing requirements. Custom queries are also possible.
The core of Privilege Guard – basically a means of letting users run apps requiring administrator privileges in a managed way – has also been enhanced with better policy filtering, better searching in the management console, and the ability to delegate one-off usage requests to departmental admins.
