Flexera AdminStudio Suite 10 targets application readiness for Windows 7
Specialist modules also cover readiness for virtualisation

Flexera has launched a new version of its AdminStudioSuite, an application readiness management system. The upgrade contains a module specifically aimed at businesses looking to migrate to the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
Maureen Polte, senior director of product management at Flexera Software, said that while many firms had already migrated to the new operating system, others held back from the change because they felt unsure they could move their key applications over.
The Windows 7 module in AdminStudioSuite 10 is available alongside another module, targeting virtual environments.

The software’s core modules, as with previous versions, are aimed at helping firms make sure they are effectively managing routine software upgrades. Research by the firm suggests that up to 35 percent of an average organisation’s applications will require upgrades in any given year.
“Most organisations do not have adequate visibility into their application portfolio to reliably understand the time, cost and resources required to successfully migrate their applications,” said Polte. AdminStudio 10 offered “continual readiness via a repeatable, reliable process to prepare and package MSI and virtual applications for Windows 7 migrations or day-to-day upgrades”, she added.
The new suite allows users to centrally manage and report on their application portfolio. An application compatibility pack is also available as an add-on, automatically assessing all applications to help calculate more accurately the effort and cost of migration projects.
