Adobe Flash Player Square enables 64-bit support

Offers 64-bit support on Mac OS, Linux and Windows operating systems

Adobe Systems has announced Adobe Flash Player "Square," a preview release that enables native 64-bit support on Mac OS, Linux and Windows operating systems.

The preview, available from Adobe Labs, is offered so that users can test existing content and new platforms for compatibility and stability. Adobe warns, the preview isn't yet stable, and advises caution when installing Flash Player "Square" on production machines.

"The community has been very vocal around the need for native 64-bit support and we've heard you loud and clear," writes Paul Betlem in an Adobe Flash Player Team blog.

"Today we're also sharing a refresh of the Linux 64-bit version of Flash Player together with the first preview of both the 64-bit Windows and Mac versions. If you're using a 64-bit browser, I encourage you to install a 64-bit version of Flash Player and give it try."

Additionally, Adobe Flash Player "Square" offers enhanced support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, promising to utilise hardware rendering surfaces to improve graphics performance and enable seamless composition.
